If you have a flat tire, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may trigger a low-pressure warning and indicate which tire is affected. Kia recommends having the TPMS checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
Use only tire sealant approved by Kia Seltos. After the tire is replaced, any sealant must be removed from the TPMS pressure sensor and from the inside of the wheel.
How the TPMS Works on the 2019 Seltos
Each wheel is equipped with a tire-pressure sensor attached to the valve stem. If a wheel/tire is replaced, the TPMS may require calibration (initialization) by an authorized Kia dealer.
What Happens After You Replace a Wheel
If you replace a flat tire with a spare wheel that has been sitting in the vehicle, then drive for about 10 minutes at speeds above 25 km/h (15 mph), you may observe the following:
- The TPMS malfunction indicator may turn off in about 1 minute after the system detects the sensors in the replaced wheel and in the other wheels.
- If the spare wheel does not have a TPMS sensor, the TPMS malfunction indicator will remain on. (This may happen with a temporary spare without a sensor.)
Checking Tire Pressure Correctly
A flat tire can sometimes be recognized visually, but Kia recommends checking pressure with a gauge. Note that pressure readings may be higher when the tires are warm (for example, after driving or on a hot day).
If you drove approximately 1.6 km (1 mile) and need to measure pressure, allow the tire to cool before checking. For the most accurate result, measure and adjust pressure when the tires are “cold.”
Tires are considered “cold” when the vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours, or when it has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).

When using tire sealant with TPMS:
Use only Kia-approved sealant. Liquid sealant may damage the tire-pressure sensors inside the wheels. -
TPMS limitations:
TPMS cannot prevent accidents. It may not detect severe tire damage caused by external factors such as nails, glass, or potholes. If the vehicle feels unstable, reduce speed immediately, ease off the accelerator, brake gently, and move to a safe location off the road. -
TPMS protection / warranty:
Modifying, altering, or disabling TPMS components can negatively affect system operation and may prevent the system from warning about low tire pressure or TPMS malfunctions. Such modifications may void the vehicle warranty for the TPMS.
